Earlier this month, our almost Valentine's baby (he'll make me point out he's on Feb 13th) had the birthday he's been anticipating for at least 9 months. I thought this was a 4 turning 5-year old trait, but apparently it's also an 11 turning 12-year old trait, the only difference being that this time, he knew exactly when his birthday was coming and that it just plain wasn't soon enough, considering he's the youngest of his friends. Well, FINALLY, Brayden is 12 and an Aaronic Priesthood holder! We're growing up around here.
Time to indulge and talk about Brayden. Sounds cliche, but I couldn't ask for a better oldest child. He is competent, funny, responsible, and respectful. He sets such a personality tone in our family and I see his siblings following suit to certain extent. He is mature for his age. He has goals. He is easy going and fun to be with. He faces frustrations with a pretty cool head. He's a good influence among his friends. He still seems to like his parents. (How long will this last?) I try to imagine all he has ahead of him--so much potential--and I feel excitement for him. I wonder what challenges his teenage years will bring and how he and we as parents will face them. Am I arming him with the right tools? Does he know where to turn for guidance? I can't express how much I hope so. Rick & I are often complimented on what an impressive young man he is. We couldn't agree more, yet it doesn't feel like we can take credit. He is who he is and he's just cool. Love you, Brayden. We sure appreciate you.

Well we certainly can't get enough of Brayden around here as well. Well not at our house, but his personality, you know? Uh, that didn't make ANY sense.
We're excited to see where Brayden's teenage years take him also. I'm sure he'll be great.
WE LOVE YOU!
Wow, it really sounds like you were describing my oldest Aaron. I felt the same way when he turned 12 in November. Isn't it just an awesome time. The only unfortunate thing for him is he will be in his Primary Sunday school for the rest of the year. I am very excited for all of this teenage stuff. All of the milestones we will be going through. The priesthood makes it all the sweeter. Congratulations Brayden WE are very excited for you and this new adventure.
We love Brayden also! He is the big brother that I hope Zach will be one day. I know there are many times I wish I already had a Brayden of my own to play with Zach.
Loved this post, Tracy. Isn't it amazing to watch our babies grow up?
Wow, they grow up fast. Even though I know Brayden is close to Austin's age, I still can't believe you have a 12-year-old! What a handsome young man he is turning into! Isn't it awesome to watch him pass the sacrament, and to have 'another man around the house'? haha Don't worry about his teenage years; you are absolutely equipping him with all he needs, and it will be a fun ride.
