A Cautionary Tale

It sure has been a while since I've written anything. Sure, I've snagged a few moments to find pictures and eventually post them, but this doesn't require a stream of consciousness (who has heard that term since 9th grade English?) I'm hoping my ability to think clearly will return before long. In the meantime, all I can think of right now is Has anyone ever gotten a gummy worm stuck in their nose? I was reminded that it happened to me a few months ago and NOT because I was sticking a gummy worm up my nose, thank you very much. On the contrary, I was trying to eat a red & white one (the only flavor worth eating) and somehow swallowed a tiny bit backwards. (?) I think I laughed suddenly or something. After about an hour of an itchy, pink-runny nose, that bit of gummy actually reemerged into a kleenex. Gross, I know. I was horrified too. Just thinking about it makes my nose tingle. The moral of this story is to eat gummy worms with care. And not in mixed company. I certainly haven't tried since.

i have now officially sworn off gummy worms. that was seriously nasty. thank you for taking one for the team and discovering for all of us the true hazard of eating gummy worms! (and i'm sorry, but since i hardly ever see you, the next time i DO, that is all i will think of, so if i start uncontrollably laughing, you'll know why!)

Same thing happened to Jillian, only it was a bean. She swallowed it wrong and it ended up in her nose. Only problem is, we didn't figure out it was there until over a month later when she started to smell funny. I just thought she had really bad breath so we focused on teeth brushing, and even took her to the dentist. Nothing got rid of the bad odor surrounding her so I finally took her to the pediatrician who immediately looked up her nose. It took awhile to extract and I won't tell you what it looked like. Let's just say you were lucky that your gummy worm didn't stay lodged for long!
