A Glimpse

Last week, we (minus the little guys) went to the Draper Temple open house. With the Jordan River Temple five minutes to the north, and Draper and Oquirrh Temples standing as pillars across the valley from each other, minutes to the east and west of us--we are surrounded with temples! I can't believe how lucky we are to see each of these temples every single day in our comings and goings. Seeing one temple every day is a blessing, but three!?

We had such an enjoyable afternoon together, even though you can't tell from Connor's face. The cookies afterward were a particular highlight for him. Brayden too, considering he probably ate seven. :)

As for Maddie, she was especially excited to see the bride's room. When we finally got there, she oohed and ahhed at the vanities flanked with fancy scones and the large 3-directional mirror. At one moment she looked excitedly into the big mirror, then turned and looked over her shoulder, pretending. I had an instant, clear glimpse of beautiful, young adult Maddie, in her wedding dress, looking over her shoulder, anxiously getting ready for one of the most sacred moments of her life.

I shared my memories of being in a room like that with my mom and what happened next as they took me to see Rick, then brought us to the celestial room to sit for a few quiet moments alone together before getting married. I couldn't get much further than that. Tears filled our eyes and an understanding passed as we looked at each other, imagining similar moments for her someday too. I won't soon forget that moment with my beautiful girl.

Evan and Grant rivaled Brayden's cookie record. And as for the rest, I'm realizing that I should have left Hayley with someone. Those moments I could have been bonding with my girls, I spent bouncing Hayley to keep her quiet. And nice picture outdoors. We went this afternoon. In the middle of the snowstorm. No outside pictures for us. There's always the next one in a few weeks. Can you believe I can say that?

OH what a wonderful time. I was telling my other friend who took all 6 of her with her to see the open house that you guys should feel very lucky. NOt everyone can share that kind of experience with their kids. What a wonderful thing to be able to share with your children!!!
