'miss you already'

...were Rick's words of greeting upon getting home for dinner from his usual Sunday routine this week. And the feeling was mutual. We'd gotten home the night before from a getaway to St. George, just the two of us, and who knew how much we needed it?! I mean, we're good at dating, but it's been awhile since we've really gotten away together...it was a true b-r-e-a-t-h-e-r and so much fun to be footloose & fancy free. Yep, just wrote footloose and fancy free. We always love getting back home to the kids, but can't help but wonder when & where we can slip away to next...

We hiked Snow Canyon--a very cool hidden gem--

and climbed down into super dark lava caves

Here's Rick, in the light of the flash, crawling through a FAR too small passageway

and my feelings about doing it myself

I mustered the courage to climb through(!), enjoyed the achievement for at least 3 minutes, and scrambled back through before our second flashlight failed and we were plunged into absolute rocky darkness or we were trapped or drowned. No water ANYWHERE but you never know.

It was dark and cool and we were the only two in there...kind of scary. Or romantic. Either way.

Emerging back into civilization

That night we had 2nd row seats to see this funny guy at Tuacahn Amphitheater.

Still our favorite. Dear Brian Regan, you never fail to deliver. OH the laughter.

We spent some time in this holy place,

Did some golfing,

And all in all had a marvelous time together.

I LOVE YOU RICK--I couldn't ask for better than you are for me. Happy 15th.

Looks like you had a great time. I myself probably never would have crawled into that cave.

Happy anniversary! What a fun getaway! I'm really glad you made it out of those caves. That looks terrifying!

I don't know how I have missed so many posts????? You have been busy and I love all new things in your life. A beautified mud room, gerbils, piercings, and how can we forget the wonderful trip away just you and Rick. HOw in the world do you manage that?? Tom and I have been married 15 years this September and I think only twice gotten away over night without all the kids. Do you have family around?? What awesome things happening with you guys except the huge what did they call it?? nasty blood filling bruise building up underneath the skin. Yeah that. Poor guy

What a fun getaway!! Keith and I had our last getaway (for more than a day) when we celebrated our 15th anniversary! We went to Sausalito, and I remember a waitress at a restaurant on our actual anniversary asked how long we had been married, and when we told her, she literally pulled up a chair for a second and said, "How do you DO it??" In this day and age, you and Rick are breaking the mold (especially out of Utah, perhaps). Here's to many more years of fun and adventure. And I wish you better luck than we have had in getting away for future anniversaries. ;)

That trip sounds amazing. I bet you two felt like kids, frolicking through the red rocks and caves together. Apparently so...only the young and naive would attempt to enter a space that small and confining!

Fun stuff, you guys are cute...still so in love.
