Out With the Old

After ten-ish years of use, we have replaced our little college table with something wide and beautiful and big enough for our family! Celebrate! I wish I had a digital picture of our FIRST table to accurately document our journey in tables. It was of the formica/metal genre and a happily received hand-me-down from my parents when we got married. It matched our cinder block chairs, and shortly thereafter, our two D.I. chairs very nicely. Since it was starting to fall apart, Rick welded one of the legs. No, he's wasn't a welder, and yes, it was ugly, but it stood up for free. I remember how luxurious it felt to make the significant $100 purchase of this scratch & dent table around three years later:

It's been a faithful table. And it's still in great shape! It's seen us from 2 chairs, to 4 chairs, to 4 chairs & a bench, to 2 chairs & 2 benches, and finally to 1 chair, 1 mismatched chair & 2 benches. Today it feels just as exciting to welcome a new table to our lives, complete with EIGHT chairs and two leaves! We could even have 10 chairs if we had anywhere to store them! I'm obviously beside myself. Here she is:

And from the side,

And from upstairs,

Pardon my excitement in pictures. Now we just need a new kitchen to match. She's too pretty for 1996 oak and white formica. I'm certain that's not asking too much.

oooooooh! i love it! it looks so great. i love getting new furniture too. our dining table is also a hand-me-down that has been serving us well and while there is absolutely nothing wrong wtih it, i will be happy when i can pick out the one that fits MY style! and no, i do NOT think a new kitchen is too much to ask for! as a mother of five, you deserve it!

OH my goodness. How exciting is that!!!! We have not bought much furniture in our lifetime but would love to have some new furniture. Especially a new living room set. My kids are so hard on things that we just try and keep the stuff we have for fear of new stuff getting torn up. Although we bought from a family leaving AK a nice table and chairs but throughout time it has gotten beat up. Congratulations!!!

What a gorgeous table! For a gorgeous family. Tracy, I feel guilty, because I read your blog and oooh and aaaahh over the pictures of your adorable kids, and all I can think of to comment is: I miss you! Your kids are adorable. Why can't we live by each other?

So maybe I will start commenting, but the comments may all be the same. :)

I miss you too Sally! There are empty lots next door to me, don't you want a second home in Riverton?
