Thirty SIX

Yesterday Rick turned 36, the first number on the slippery slope to 40. I say this only to bug Rick since all the 40 year olds we know are pretty cool and I really don't mind the idea of getting there in a few years. I guess that's easy for me to say since all of our friends get there before me, neener neener. Anyway, the kids made breakfast for him, we paraded into his office to surprise him during the day (the kids are off track, you know), we did our traditional birthday dinner at Los Hermanos, and finally cake and present. Just one present, but good things come in single, sort-of small packages.

Doesn't he just ooze wisdom. Now I'm embarassed by his naked cake. I always decorate birthday cakes but...this one was just lucky to get baked for reasons I need not go into. Conveniently, 36 is the "less is more" birthday. You didn't know?

Happy Happy Birthday Rick. And I could totally agree with merathon. He's one lucky man with such a sweet family. What did ya get?? And Tracy tell me why the kids have a full 3 weeks off? Are they year round school? And what is that big hat looking thing in the background. I am looking for new traditions for our celebrations.

Tracy,
I forgot you were the youngest out of the bunch. Are you even legally able to drink yet? Just remember, we may turn forty first, but we will get the last "neener neener" when you do.
